"To Infinity and Beyond!"
Helping young people grow into intelligent, hard-working, and compassionate citizens is what inspires me to do my job to the best of my abilities every single day. I truly believe that I am blessed to be in the education profession. Just like I would want my students to believe, I also believe there is nothing better than education and getting the best education that one possibly can. As an educator and coach, I want to become a master in my craft. To me, this means being dedicated to life-long learning.
Throughout my time in my master’s program, not only did I learn what was intended, but I also gained amazing research skills. I feel that I was exposed to so many different teaching resources and I was only out of college for a few years. Things are constantly changing and it is an educator’s duty to keep up with the times.
My newest goal is to start utilizing these skills in my lesson preparation. As we are converting to the Common Core State Standards, I can use technology to help find lessons and materials for my classroom. The need is for materials to be current, interesting, and most importantly, bring in real life experiences. This is my new focus as we are updating our geometry curriculum.
Being connected to colleagues all over the world was an invaluable experience. I find collaboration and connections to be extremely rewarding and
informative. Others’ ideas inspire new ideas for me and my classroom. I would like to start exploring new ways that I can network with other educators on a regular basis.
As for my career path, I cannot see myself leaving the classroom. However, I am now interested in exploring other career options that I have open because of an advanced degree. I am ready to pursue the possibility of teaching at the college level, or even run some online courses, especially after a rewarding experience with an online program.
Regardless of where I decide to go in the education field, there is nothing that can replace constant and current education. The possibilities and interests of what I could study next are infinite, and the possibilities of how to do this are endless.
